Leeds LGBT+ Mapping Project are setting out to map activity in and around the city – from book clubs to running clubs, drag nights to queer migrant solidarity activism, mental health peer support groups to staff networks.
By looking at both formal and informal LGBT+ networks and infrastructure in Leeds the project seeks to understand
LGBT+ community capacity in the city
how different LGBT+ communities and networks knit together
how to build on and grow existing assets and activity
challenges and exclusions facing LGBT+ people and communities in Leeds
This project will provide an evidence base for future action supporting LGBT+ people in the city.
Building an online LGBT+ resource for Leeds
This mapping project will also provide the building blocks for an online LGBT+ community resource. The website will provide dedicated digital infrastructure for Leeds’ LGBT+ community - a place where people can share information and find out about everything that is going on in and around the city.
In the meantime, we have set up a Facebook page for the project Leeds LGBT+ Mapping Project,
We are looking for individuals, groups and organisations to share their experiences of being part of the LGBT+ community in Leeds, and let us know what they think is needed to best support and grow LGBT+ community action in Leeds.
By feeding into this project you will
contribute to shaping the future LGBT+ support and community action in Leeds
help ensure that LGBT+ support in the city is inclusive and comprehensive
network with others in the community
promote your group, event, or campaign across Leeds
