Local Author Safeera Ahmed Releases Her New Book "The Girl Who Knew Kung Fu".

Safeera Ahmad grew up in Leeds, West Yorkshire. She trained and worked as a teacher and encouraged her students to pursue their aspirations with great success. After years of writing stories for the enjoyment of her younger siblings and then her nieces, she decided to pursue her own aspiration and bring her stories to new audiences.

Here is a message from Safeera:

"The book launch, held at Ice Scoop Gelato, was organised to share the release of 'The Girl who knew Kung Fu' but it was primarily a means to give the children of our community an opportunity to share their own stories and poetry, which they performed with confidence. The atmosphere could simply be described as happy and gratitude due to the support of Ice Scoop Gelato, Cllr Mothin Ali and Fever Radio's RJ Shahab Ud Deen.

My intention as a Leeds born (Muslim, Pakistani, woman) author is to promote the value of reading and writing whilst demonstrating the importance of communicating our experiences and those of our ancestors through our own words whether as stories, poetry, or any preferred form of prose. Our next challenge will be to build a network that supports the work of our future writers."
